Pearcedale Road School Speed Zone Review

Consultation has concluded

Council is currently reviewing the speed limit of the part time school speed zone on Pearcedale Road outside Cranbourne South Primary School. The current school speed limit is 60 km/hr between the hours of 8 – 9.30am and 2.30 – 4pm on School Days. Council has consulted the community via mail out and online survey on the Casey Conversations website asking the local community whether they would support a reduction in the part time school speed limit from 60 km/hr to 40 km/hr.

Public consultation was open from 22 November 2018 through until 21 December 2019. In that time 16 responses were received via the online survey and one hardcopy feedback form was also submitted by a local resident. A VMS trailer was used on site to refer passing motorists to the Casey Conversation site during the consultation period. 100% support was received by the community for the proposal.

Council has received in principle agreement from VicRoads for the proposal. With community support for the project Council will now proceed with investigating the costs associated with upgrading the existing electronic speed signs which is a VicRoads requirement before formal approval will be given by VicRoads. The upgrade of the signs will be subject to funding.
