What is the Old Cheese Factory Master Plan?

The Old Cheese Factory (OCF) master plan is a large project that will provide a clear and concise strategic direction for the development of the site over the next ten years.

The plan gives direction on the development of the unique parkland featuring heritage buildings, manicured gardens, open lawns and play spaces that is used extensively by the community.

The plan will provide future opportunities that will allow the facility to continue to grow whilst retaining the essential attributes and elements that make the OCF such a positive and successful community destination.

Why do we need a master plan for the Old Cheese Factory?

Over the last four years, growth in visitor numbers has been approximately 219%, with over 142, 562 annual visitors in 2014/2015.

The plan identifies a number of development opportunities, to respond to the growing visitations and build on its current services, programs and facilities.

What is the proposed vision and key pillars of the master plan?

The master plan outlines a vision, four key pillars and actions that will provide future direction on the facilities required to support and build on the services and programs offered to the community.

Council’s vision for the Old Cheese Factory is to provide a unique community destination, retaining and celebrating Casey’s heritage and parkland.

The four pillars identified are:

  • Arts and Culture

  • Celebrations and Events

  • Tourism and Heritage

  • Community and Open Space
