What is the Casey Cardinia Economic Development Strategy?

The aim of the Strategy is to facilitate the creation of local jobs for local people by supporting the growth of existing businesses, while attracting new businesses and investment to the Casey Cardinia Region. To achieve this, four key principals have been created based on the region’s latest economic profile and data, the most current policies, along with continuous consultation from the business community.

The draft Casey Cardinia Economic Development Strategy is a very different document to the Casey Economic Development Strategy 2010 – 2015. There has been a greater focus on “what the business community want” to support them to grow and invest. It is a more focused and relatively short document and will be annually reviewed as a live document. It is also different as it is a first combined strategy for both Casey and Cardinia Councils. The aim of the Strategy is to set out how the two Councils working in partnership will facilitate the creation of local jobs for local people by supporting the growth of existing businesses as well as attracting new businesses and investment to the Casey Cardinia Region. To achieve this, four key principles have been established based on consultation with the business community and consideration of how national and state trends impact on the region’s economic profile.
