What is the Local Government Act ?

The Local Government Act 1989 is the key legislation governing the operation and extent of authority provided to Council’s across Victoria. The Act has been subject to over 90 individual amendments over the past 25 years and is currently under review by the Victorian Government.


What happens next?

Feedback from Councillors, the community and officers will inform a submission by the City of Casey to Victorian Government. This will be lodged by 16 September 2016 and will be publically available on Council’s website.


How can I have my say?

To have your say, we would like to know your general feedback on the act via the survey or make an independent submission to the Local Government Act Review in writing to local.government@delwp.vic.gov.au by 16 September 2016.
