Big Ideas for Hampton Park Central

In 2018 the City of Casey exhibited two plans that have the potential to transform Hampton Park Central:

  • The Draft Hampton Park Central Community Precinct Master Plan (currently in progress)
  • The Hampton Park Central Development Plan (adopted by Council on 4th June 2019)

Following the exhibition period in July-August 2018, Council made changes to these documents based on the feedback and expert advice we received during the public exhibition period. Your input on these plans was valuable because we want to work together with landowners and the broader community to develop a shared vision for Hampton Park Central.

What are the plans?

The Draft Hampton Park Central Community Precinct Master Plan

The draft Master Plan outlines the future vision for the Hampton Park Central Community Precinct. By making the best use of Council-owned land, we can meet community needs and drive the revitalisation of Hampton Park Central. Council will not be able to fund the new community facilities alone. State and Federal government contributions will also be required. The draft Master Plan proposes:

  • A revitalised Community Hub with a variety of community spaces including a library, family & children's centre, Arthur Wren Hall and meeting rooms.
  • A town square which celebrates the significant River Red Gum tree.
  • A realigned Main Street to improve the street network in Hampton Park Central.

The draft Master Plan proposes a revitalised Community Hub, and a town square which celebrates the magnificent River Red Gum tree.

The Hampton Park Central Development Plan

The Development Plan is a planning document which provides guidelines for the whole of Hampton Park Central. It provides greater clarity about how landowners can redevelop their properties and guides the future revitalisation of the Town Centre. The Development Plan applies to private and Council owned land. The key ideas of this Development Plan include:

  • A new street network with a realigned Main Street and a grid of north-south streets which will help create a walkable town centre.
  • New design guidelines to improve the look and feel of the streets and buildings, and attract visitors and businesses to Hampton Park Central.
  • New environment and landscape guidelines which will help create a greener Hampton Park Central that is connected to the River Gum Creek.

The Development Plan proposes a more legible street network for Hampton Park Central.

The Hampton Park Central Development Plan was adopted by Council on 4th June 2019.
