The City of Casey has recently prepared a Draft Community Engagement Strategy detailing Council’s commitment to engaging with the community to guide and inform decision-making. Community engagement benefits you by providing opportunities to participate in decision-making.

The strategy outlines five main aims:

  • Strengthen transparency of Council’s decision making processes by using community feedback to inform decision making.
  • Ensure services delivered by Council are consistent with and meet the expectations and needs of residents.
  • Increase the awareness of community engagement opportunities available to residents.
  • Strategically plan community engagement activities across the organisation and share the results.
  • Enhance the capability of staff to undertake community engagement.

The draft strategy has been informed by market research which took place between December 2015 to February 2016 to determine how residents want to engage with Council and their preferences for participation and a number of engagement expert workshop with staff who have vast experience with engaging with the community.
